Choose the route before leaving the terminal
Set navigation to the accommodation entrance, not just the municipality. Review the final part of the route while you have a reliable connection. Mountain addresses and gated resorts often need instructions from the host in addition to a map pin.
Understand your rental arrangement
Ask the rental company about toll billing, fuel return, authorized drivers, roadside assistance and return location. Keep its contact information with your rental agreement. Driving is on the right; follow current posted signs and local instructions throughout the trip.
Give slower roads their own time
A highway drive and a mountain approach are different experiences. Avoid loading arrival day with timed activities. If conditions or visibility make a route uncomfortable, stop in a suitable place and reconsider rather than following a navigation shortcut blindly.
Plan arrival and parking
Before reaching an old-town rental, beach or event venue, know where to unload and where parking is permitted. Keep luggage out of view and do not leave a loaded vehicle while exploring. For a rental return, add time for fuel and the company’s handover process.
